A Surfe’s Guide To Avoiding Skin Cancer

Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer and according to a 2015 study, surfers are three times more likely than the general population to get it. If you love staying out in the sun swimming or surfing, then you've got to listen to what Dr Chris Carlin from San Clemente, California, a surfer who practices dermatology has to say. According to him, you need to reapply sunscreen with a broad spectrum formula every two hours to get consistent sun protection. Using a sunscreen with an SPF 50 formula can seriously ward off both UVA and UVB rays, defending your skin against sunburn and long-term damage. He also advises that you stay out of the sun midday and opt for early morning or late afternoon exposures.
